Snowboard world cup

I have recently returned from three weeks in New Zealand traveling with the Australian Snowboard Halfpipe and Boardercross teams.

We were based in Wanaka on the South Island for a training camp followed by a World Cup event for the Halfpipe team. This was a qualifying event for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in February 2014.

The weather in New Zealand can play havoc with training plans, however when it came to the event, the weather was perfect; blue skies and minimal wind. The competition was fierce with an Olympic field and athletes from all over the world. The athletes went big; those competing to secure a spot at the Olympics throwing down their best moves and those already qualified trying bigger and better tricks.

Our athletes performed very well with all qualifying for finals or semi-finals and fortunately for me, no major injuries. Watch out for Holly Crawford, Nathan Johnstone and Kent Callister competing for Gold for Australia next year in Sochi.

For me personally, this was a step towards my career goal, an amazing professional experience and hopefully the first of many trips with the Winter Athletes. It would not have been possible without the connection made through one of our lovely patients here at Equilibria and the flexibility provided by Michael. Thank you.
