Ingrown Toe Nails

An ingrown toe nail can be extremely painful and can restrict your life-style.

Ingrown Toe Nails can develop for a number of reasons including:

  • Poor cutting technique resulting in a spike or ragged edge remaining
  • Damage or trauma to the nail resulting in regrowth malformation
  • Infection secondary to trauma or nail plate deformity
  • Inherited nail shape where the nail is too wide or deep for the toe

At Equilibria Podiatry we can provide a simple, effective and permanent solution for your painful ingrown toe nail.

Treatment can range from gentle removal of a painful nail spike, regular appointments for routine care or permanent correction of the nail by reducing the overall width from one or 2 sides. If permanent correction of the nail width is required the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in the clinic where the painful edge is removed and the nail root is cauterised. Typically there is minimal or no pain and bleeding afterwards.
