Ingrown Toe Nails

An ingrown toe nail can be extremely painful and can restrict your life-style.

Ingrown Toe Nails can develop for a number of reasons including:

Poor cutting technique resulting in a spike or ragged edge remaining
Damage or trauma to the nail resulting in regrowth malformation
Infection secondary to trauma or nail plate deformity
Inherited nail shape where the nail is too wide or deep for the toe
At Equilibria Podiatry we can provide a simple, effective and permanent solution for your painful ingrown toe nail.

Treatment can range from gentle removal of a painful nail spike, regular appointments for routine care or permanent correction of the nail by reducing the overall width from one or 2 sides. If permanent correction of the nail width is required the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in the clinic where the painful edge is removed and the nail root is cauterised. Typically there is minimal or no pain and bleeding afterwards.

Heel Pain

The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot that runs from the heel to the forefoot. Excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, usually due to over-pronation (flat feet), an excessively high arch, or increased body weight, causes inflammation and pain in either the heel and/or mid arch.

Symptoms are usually more prevalent in the morning or after prolonged rest. If left untreated and strain on the arch continues, a bony protrusion may develop, known as a heel spur.

Warts

Warts are often mistaken for other conditions such as corns or calluses, but a wart is actually a viral infection which has invaded the skin.

Children, especially teenagers, tend to be more susceptible to warts than adults while some people seem to be immune.

Treatment options for warts in the past have been burning with acid preparations, freezing with liquid nitrogen and surgical removal.

Depending upon the size of the wart and its location all past treatments have had their limitations and varying degrees of success.

Orthotics

Orthoses are in-shoe devices, custom made to your foot to comfortably align and improve function.

We provide a comprehensive range of sizes, from very soft supportive devices through to more rigid (usually very comfortable) functional devices to control and improve the mechanics of the foot. These orthotic devices improve symptoms and reduce damage occurring to the feet.

We have an onsite orthotic laboratory so further updates and changes to your orthotic can be made as your needs and biomechanical needs change.
